Emergency Closure
Although highly unlikely, there are procedures in place should we ever need to close the school for bad weather or other specific reasons. During the winter months, there is always the possibility of school closure due to freak weather conditions or interruptions in public service supplies such as electricity or fuel. A school closure is a decision that is not taken lightly. It is a decision made in coordination with Mrs Guest, headteacher at Churchdown Village Infant School, and is only done if the safety of the children, parents and staff is at risk on the school site. There are 4 places that will give you the official notification if we will be closed for the day:
The school website: www.cvjs.org.uk
The official county council website: www.gloucestershire.gov.uk/closures
The official county council Twitter feed: @Glos_schools
Local radio: BBC Radio Gloucestershire / Heart FM
The 2 websites will keep you updated of the closure and of the expected re-opening date.
If we need to close during the school day, we will send out a text message asking parents to come and collect their child(ren). Members of CVJS staff will remain on site until all pupils have been collected.
